What our members say

"Further education has waited a long time to have recognition for its professional practitioners, and I applaud the creation of IfL. Gone are the days when it was enough for a teacher or trainer to know about a subject or vocational area, but not be a  qualified or expert teacher too. We have promoted the value of IfL to teachers across the college, and I am delighted that we now have full membership. I am a member too, as my roots are in teaching, and I believe that teaching and training is the absolute core business of my college."

“Thank you for this survey and its introductory reassurance that you listen to members’ views and make changes as a result of comments made. This is helping me, and I imagine many others, to have a sense of worth in IfL.”

“I feel sure that the IfL’s aims and values are endorsed and supported by most practitioners at the coal face of teaching/training however, the same cannot be said for most educational management/providers. This is evident by the continued action, by management/providers, to cut CPD funding at every opportunity and/or to facilitate ‘time off’ for tutors who, like myself, are prepared to fund their own CPD. Until such time this situation is reversed the decline in qualitative delivery will continue as dissatisfied
and frustrated teaching staff, both new and experienced, leave the sector.”
