CPD review process

Your continuing professional development (CPD) is reviewed according to three criteria:

  • Sufficiency
  • Authenticity
  • Relevance.

Sufficiency – this is related to the required number of hours as well as the quality of evidence provided. This step is taken at the initial stage when you declare via ‘My pages’ or send your CPD record via the gateway in REfLECT. It is also considered during the review of the CPD when looking at the quality of evidence provided.

Authenticity – looks at the activities or events undertaken with the aim of answering the following questions:

  • have the activities been completed by the member?
  • is there evidence to confirm this such as certificates, peer review or other supporting evidence?

Relevance is to do with how the evidence presented is related to the member’s teaching role with the aim of answering the following questions:

  • are the activities related to the member’s role/position in the FE and skills sector?
  • have the activities been appropriately justified?
