Stage 2 - Applying for QTLS or ATLS

What?

After you’ve expressed your intent, you will be able to access your webfolio in REfLECT. The next step is to complete your portfolio using this webfolio. You need to make sure your application is sent to us by the relevant deadline for your application period.

NOTE: We recommend you to complete this process through REfLECT, IfL’s online personal learning tool. For those unable to access REfLECT for legitimate reasons, please complete this form. You will then with our consent be able to apply by email or on paper.

The webfolio enables you to add evidence from a wide variety of sources to support your application, such as audio, video, scanned documents and peer reviews. The key elements to be included in your portfolio are:

Section 1- My teaching biography:

In this introductory section describe your route into teaching or training; the role(s) you have and the context in which you teach.

Section 2- Standardised elements:

These are drawn from typical sources and are common to all candidates and are determined through regulation or other requirements to fit all teaching roles. Standardised elements include:

Section 3- Personalised elements
:

These are determined by IfL and are made up of individual reflections on professional elements from a variety of sources appropriate to the applicant, making them non-standardised, personal and unique. The personalised elements are:

  •  subject currency
  •  teaching and learning
  •  self-evaluation
  •  professional development planning
  •  reflective practice.

NOTE: There have been difficulties with reading scanned material, either because of the size of the print or the angle at which it was displayed. Therefore attention should be paid to file sizes and ensuring whatever had been scanned is actually legible. This is easily achieved by taking a digital photograph of any evidence.

How?

We recommend you complete this process through REfLECT, IfL’s online personal learning tool.

For those unable to access REfLECT for legitimate reasons, please complete this form (PDF, 117 KB) we will then make another version of the process available to you, either by email or post as appropriate.

NOTE: All members have a complimentary REfLECT account which can be accessed via the Members’ Area. Click here for more resources and information on how to access REfLECT.
