IfL joins as partner in new National Improvement Strategy
IfL has joined as a partner in the new National Improvement Strategy, which has been launched for consultation this week. Joining the group of sector support and membership bodies led by the new Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), IfL will work to build consensus among providers and partners for a small number of core self-improvement principles (external link opens in new window) based on trust and ownership. IfL is working with LSIS to support professionalism as a major principle in the strategy and the recognition of the key role of teachers and trainers. Following feedback from consultation, the core principles will guide the improvement activities supported by LSIS and the national partners to further improve the performance of the learning and skills sector. Commenting on the launch of the consultation, Toni Fazaeli, Chief Executive of the IfL, said:
"I am pleased that IFL is now part of the new National Improvement Strategy, alongside other membership bodies and sector agencies. I am especially delighted that professionalism and also the voice of our members is recognised within the Improvement Strategys six principles. These are a core part of our own three main goals at IfL 1) increase the status of the learning and skills teaching and training profession 2) to give practitioners a louder voice to influence policy, and 3) to bring benefits of value to the our members. Our own five year strategic plan is currently being finalised with input from our members and it will be published in February 2009."
