E-learning conference - preferential rates for IfL members
Members’ discount for e-learning conference
London Learning Forum22 – 24 June 2009
IfL and the European Institute for E-Learning are working together to bring three international events to England in June under the banner of London Learning Forum.
The events - taking place at City University, Northampton Square, London, from 22 - 24 June 2009 - will attract leading experts in e-learning, e-portfolios and the use of emerging technologies for learning networks and communities from around the world.
The theme for the three-day event is Innovation, Creativity and Accountability, which is particularly relevant in 2009, the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.
This event includes three conferences which are:
• ePortfolio 2009 (7th international conference)
• Key Competencies – Skills for Life 2009 (3rd international conference)
• Learning Networks and Communities (4th international conference – previously Learning Regions & Cities)
IfL is delighted to be working in partnership with EIfEL on this important international debate about personalised learning spaces and e-portfolios.
Through this conference, IfL is offering its members and partners in the UK, who have an interest in harnessing technology to support learning, the opportunity to share practice internationally through conference papers and workshops.
IfL secures discounts for members - delegate rates

Showcasing REfLECT at the conferences
Highlighting our work on REfLECT, IfL will showcase the major advances in e-portfolios and digital learning that are being made with teachers and trainers across the further education and skills sector in England.
Since its launch on 1 April 2008, REfLECT has captured the imagination of FE and skills professionals by using digital media for professional learning. REfLECT contributes to the government’s harnessing technology initiative. More than 27,000 IfL members are now using REfLECT, IfL’s online system, enabling them to plan, review, record and assess the impact of CPD on their practice. This wide-scale use and access makes the system one of the largest and most successful of its kind in Europe.
IfL membership provides free use of REfLECT – a fantastic benefit for teachers, trainers, tutors and assessors in FE colleges and all LSC-funded providers.
In October 2008, I addressed the ePortfolio and Digital Identity 2008 conference in Maastricht. It was a fantastic opportunity to share IfL’s emerging work on professional learning in the digital age with colleagues from across Europe and even further afield.
With more than 27,000 members using REfLECT’s technology to support their individual professional development and sharing their learning experiences through communities of practice, it is exciting to consider how IfL is leading the way among professional bodies with similar missions to advance practice through CPD.
This partnership with the European Institute for E-Learning is a landmark for IfL members. We look forward to working with Serge Ravet, (chief executive of EIfE-L) and his colleagues in developing a dynamic partnership between our two organisations to benefit our members. See March 2009 issue of IfL’s “On the Agenda” monthly e-newsletter for lots more information on e-learning and useful web and YouTube links.
