How to get the most out of the Tariff
The Tariff of ITT Qualifications has been developed to show you the relationship between your teaching or training qualification and the mandatory units of the generic FE teaching qualifictions: PTLLS/CTLLS/DTLLS.
Please note that the Tariff is intended as a guide only and the results of your search must be read in conjunction with the information on the limitations within which the Tariff operates. This can be found by navigating to the sections on coverage information and clarifications and restrictions.
1. Enter the title of your qualification in the search box provided. If you cannot remember the full title, browse the full list of qualifications available in the section below the search box. The list shows the generic name for a qualification rather than the name given by the awarding body. Look for a similar title to the one on your certificate.
2. If you get a nil return, try using a word or phrase by which your qualification is more popularly know e.g. the futher education teachers certificate (stages 1,2,3) awarded by City and Guilds and held by many further education teachers is know as the 7407. Keywords such as these have been added to the search facility to enable a more fruitful search. If you still get a nil return email the Tariff team: tariff@svuk.eu
3. Look through the results table returned to see how your qualification maps to PTLLS, CTLLS or DTLLS.The coverage is shown against each mandatory unit of assessment of the new qualifications and is given using the following tariff values: Full, Part or None. The tariff values indicate whether there is sufficient cover of the assessment criteria of the pre-2007 qualification against the assessment criteria of the new qualifications. Further clarification is available using the links in the navigation bar on the left.
What the Full or Part Tariff does not cover - The Full or Part Tariff does not mean that the requirements for teaching practice, and where relevant, assessed teaching observations have been met. Where these requirements have not been met this will be addressed by awarding institutions or other relevant bodies. CTLLS also requires completion of a 6 credit Optional Unit.
4. The words, Full, Part or None, shown in the results table are hyperlinks. Clicking on the hyperlink will display further information relating to your qualification including those criteria of the new qualifications not covered by your qualification. This is useful information for you to use to evidence full coverage if you have undertaken further training or to use for planning your continuing professional development.
5. On this page, you will also see a list of criteria under 'Changes over time'. This are changes to professional practice included in the new professional standards for teachers, trainers and tutors in England but may not have been integrated into your training when you achieved your qualification. This information can be useful to help you plan your continuing professional development.
6. If you have any questions or queries regarding the use of the Tariff or the information given, please email: tariff@svuk.eu
