Working in partnership with the RSA
IfL has agreed a route to the RSA Fellowship for our Members and Fellows, recognising that the excellence in teaching and learning promoted through membership of the IfL reflects the charitable aims and history of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
Through this partnership Members (MIfL) and Fellows (FIFL) of IfL do not need to pay the initial RSA joining fee (currently £70), only paying for the annual subscription. In addition to this IfL Fellows will benefit from direct referral as a result of their status in further education and skills, removing the need for sponsorship from a Fellow of the RSA.

About the RSA
For more than 250 years the RSA has been a cradle of enlightenment thinking and a force for social progress. Its approach is multi-disciplinary, politically independent and combines cutting edge research and policy development with practical action. The RSA encourages public discourse and critical debate by providing platforms for leading experts to share new ideas on contemporary issues. The RSA and its work is supported by a 27,000 strong Fellowship - achievers and influencers from every field with a real commitment to progressive social change.
With a strong focus on education as a means of tackling the social challenges of today, Members and Fellows of the IfL are well placed to advance the RSA’s mission and enjoy the benefits of Fellowship.
This is just the start of an exciting partnership between one of the oldest and most distinguished membership bodies and one of the newest and best-placed professional bodies. In the coming months we will bring you more news on the ways in which the IfL and the RSA will work together to promote teaching and learning in further education and skills.
