IfL calls for more FE teachers and trainers to be recognised in the Queen’s honours lists
Tuesday 14 June 2011
The Institute for Learning (IfL) congratulates all those in further education and skills who were recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours list 2011, including IfL members, but is calling for more practitioners to be honoured in future.
IfL member Sarah Moreland, a senior advanced skills practitioner at Oaklands College in Hertfordshire, was one of the few further education teachers included in this year’s list.
IfL’s chief executive, Toni Fazaeli, said, “Why are so few teachers and trainers in further education and skills recognised in the Queen’s honours list, again? Teachers and trainers transform lives, and our sector’s dedicated professionals need more formal recognition. IfL will do what it can in future to encourage people to nominate outstanding teachers and trainers.”
