IfL reminds teachers and trainers to renew membership

Wednesday 31 March 2010

More than 80,000 teachers and trainers have already renewed their membership of their professional body, the Institute for Learning (IfL), for the coming year. All teachers and trainers working in publicly funded further education and skills provision must belong to IfL, and are required to renew their membership by 1 April 2010.

Lee Davies, acting chief executive of IfL, said, "Members can renew online, using a quick and easy process that takes only a few minutes. Most will have received an email from IfL and can just click on the link to update their details, without the need to log in.

"Our growing range of member benefits includes discounts on computer software and hardware; reduced rates on Open University continuing professional development (CPD) courses; no joining fee for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) or the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA); and free access to REfLECT, which offers an online personal learning space for every member.

"Teachers and trainers working in publicly funded provision have their standard membership fee of £30 paid by the government, as an investment in their professional development, so for most there is no fee to pay when renewing. Now is the time to get your renewal sorted out, before the bank holiday weekend."

Members can renew online by logging into My Pages on the IfL website.
