WorldSkills 2011

IfL is one of many organisations from across the further education and skills sector who were represented at WorldSkills. IfL used this opportunity to pay tribute to the outstanding teachers and trainers whose dedication helps set thousands of young people each year on the path to a successful and rewarding career. Three decades in the making: a history of IfL

Being part of the professional body for teaching and training is a relatively recent development in the sector for many of IfL's members. However, the roots of the IfL go back three decades. Founder member, Derek Betts, joins IfL's chief executive, Toni Fazaeli, and deputy chief executive, Lee Davies, in this podcast reflecting on the development of IfL as a professional body.

Teaching and Learning

IfL is working with the National Union of Students (NUS) to foster a dialogue between teachers and learners, about teaching and learning. This is often termed as the "learner voice" but what does this mean in practice?

The impact of CPD on individuals, learners and employers

IfL members are seizing the opportunity to get their professional development acknowledged by sharing their work and reflections with IfL. Sue Crowley, chair of IfL, Lee Davies, our deputy chief executive, and Jean Kelly, director of continuing professional development, share their thoughts and experiences on the impact of ongoing professional development on individuals, their learners and their employers.

Harnessing Technology

Tony Prideaux talks to IfL staff about their views on the use of social networking sites and how this contributes and enriches the learning process.

The facts of CPD

All members of IfL commit to undertaking continuing professional development (CPD), so what does this actually involve? In this podcast we discuss the most common FAQ’s from members.

How can REfLECT help IfL members?

In our second podcast, Tony Prideaux speaks to Lee Davies, IfL’s deputy chief executive, Jean Kelly, director of professional development, and Michelle Jennings, CPD Strategic Adviser, about how technology - and REfLECT in particular - can help IfL members.
